They will dive back into the mud later tonight as temps plunge. We had an unusually warm February a bunch of years ago when it rained lightly one evening and all our amphibians came out to spawn. That was the earliest I’ve ever seen that phenomenon. Hopefully it gets cold this evening soon enough to prevent their migration to vernal habitats to mate and lay egg masses.
