Swamp_bucks
Anyone ever have a torn MCL? I’ve been battling a knee injury since October and X-rays both times show no damage so they are now leaning towards me having a torn MCL. At this point I can still walk as long as I keep my leg straight. Other wise it feels like someone’s jamming a knife in my knee and twisting it to the point I can’t even sleep at night. If you have had one what’s the recovery time look like? Pain get better after they fixed the issue? hoping to get more info in the morning. It sucks so I’m hoping they can give me an answer sooner than later.
2012-Taco
Did you have a MRI done? I'm going through knee problems since Nov, arthroscopic surgery is scheduled for 3/10 to fix meniscus tears. X-rays didn't show the tissue cartilage damage. Good luck! I certainly can feel your pain!

No that’s on the agenda for tomorrow. Insurance wanted a second X-rays to confirm no damage bone wise. The first one looked like some possible cartilage damage by the knee cap but like you said without an MRI they can’t actually tell.
Upstate Nerdneck
Had my ACL done spring of COVID year. No MCL damage. For ACL I'll say, if you put in the work, it gets back to almost 100%.

Damn insurance companies, they make us suffer for months because they won't do the testing the Dr wants, until all the inexpensive testing doesn't find the fix that the Dr knew was there from the start! grampy and mowin 1

You would think they would have to spend more money on all the inexpensive tests and Dr visit combined. 2012-Taco
Swamp_bucks
No mri today but doctor said hes pretty sure it’s a meniscus tear to the point he was explaining how the surgery works. Only thing is he needs the mri to confirm it so he can book the surgery. Just a hurry up and wait game now. Was told could take 2-4 weeks for approval for mri if they deny me again. I've had 3 mri's on my knee since last Sept. I got approval each time in 24 hrs, and scheduled in 1-2 weeks. I'm sure every Insurance Co is different. That waiting game sucks when you're in pain. grampy
Torn ACL and Meniscus. Had to play the insurance game for a month. Meanwhile I could barely walk! And was in constant pain. Post op, was up on my feet that day. Was back to work on desk duty after two weeks. 12 weeks of PT. Twice a week. Doing PT at home as well. I was getting around pretty good after the 12 weeks. But it took a year to feel "normal" again. Stairs will be the biggest pain! Upstate Nerdneck
Robhuntandfish
Good luck @Swamp_bucks. Get better soon and get that fixed up in time for late summer scouting! I hope I do better than that. Dr says 4-6 weeks recovery for meniscus tears but, he cautioned me with it could be much longer!

Something about the ACL replacement makes your quad muscles just forget how to work. I had electricity hooked up to it for the first week of PT to stimulate the muscle to make it remember how to function. I was technically able to jog in June, after surgery in January, but it sucked. Following spring I was able to actually jog without constant pain. grampy and 2012-Taco
Swamp_bucks
MRI results are in and I’ve torn the both meniscus in my right knee and slight damage to the cartilage of my femur. So now I have to wait to meet with the doctors to figure out a plan. My guess would be surgery of some sort. Follow up is next week hoping to move it up to later this week or early next.
