I bought my first muzzleloader about 4 years ago, a very lightly used T/C New Englander with .50 caliber and 12 gauge barrels. Since purchasing it, I have added a few more side locks to my stable, but have been on the look out for the last of the 3 barrels that were manufactured for that gun. Last weekend, I saw on another forum that a guy had one for sale for a reasonable price, and I jumped on it. Came in the mail today, so I swapped out the barrels and put some .535 PRB's through it with 80gr. of Triple 7. I had to bump up the sights a bit, the bottom target is at 20 yards, top at 75. It's plenty accurate, more so than me. I'm really looking forward to taking it hunting next weekend!

Nice groups!

My first ML was a T/C High Plains Sporter!  Still have it, killed a bunch of deer with it since I was a kid, but went inline years ago!

I was having some ignition issues with it starting last week when we were shooting the 50 cal barrel, it would take 2-3 caps in order to go off. I thought it was fouling related. Same thing happened today with the 54 barrel. Caps would snap, no boom. Checked that they are pushing air by firing a cap at a leaf, no problem. Swapped the nipple off the 50 and same issues. Finally I robbed the nipple off my Hawken, and had no problem. It’s a little bit longer of a nipple, so maybe that’s the issue?

It gave me a reason to shoot a little longer anyways.
