Being a Tool & Die Maker I enjoy making anything and everything that I can, rather than purchasing it.. When time permits.

So I made a direct fit mount that will hold my Burris FF3 to my Stevens 301 20ga and 410..

These stock setups do not allow a good cheek weld.. Now it will.

This lowers the optic almost 3/8 of an inch compared to the Stock optic base..

Sumtoy has the premium market cornered on that piece - however - if you can produce it and undercut for the same performance - you probably have a highly repeatable sales process. That cheek weld is the one thing you have to tinker with on the 301s.

I have to imagine you could pound those out quick and since they are smaller parts, probably lower material costs. I bet you could get a really quick payback schedule on a first batch.

After purchasing some of his product in the past, he's a terrible/sloppy machinist!  And doesn't like being called out on it lmao :) But when your average turkey hunter, whom doesn't understand concentricity and or tolerances.. he becomes a genius lol. The chokes I've bought from him in the past are trash!

That being said, I can certainly make them quickly, better quality  and undercut his price no doubt. I cant produce quantities like he, but I'm working on that as we speak..

I like it.  My dad was a tool and die maker.

You should Market those.

If I could produce more I certainly would. I could give him serious run for his money. and produce a better quality piece. His machining practices are less than desired to put it nicely. For now i make them for myself and a few buddies, for a small fee or free.. depending the situation.

That's awesome.

Been trying to find a mount to do similar onto a talley base for one rifle, and its been a challenge.

Depending on exactly what you need, I may be able to help you out..

Yeah we got a few chokes and mounts and they were indeed horrible. I have a mount left for another 410 and only one of the two chokes shot well and he sent that one unfinished so we used a bluing marker to coat and bake it ourselves.

I’d jam volume of what you could make because I bet you sell them easy and make some $$$.

Thank you, I may pick your brain for some advice at some point.

I know what tool and die level machining costs; and it’s worth every penny for the skills required. I don’t think I have enough pennies. :D

Up side is I can start with a machinable factory base, and I think I could steal the clamping part of the base from a talley scope ring.

in the end close to concept. this one is a ahr base for a cz550
