mowin Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Haven't seen a tick since December. Was scratching behind one of my dogs ears this morning and sure enough she had a tick embedded. Time to change their cattle tags.
DirtTime Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 (edited) They never went really dormant around here. I've had them on my packs while small game hunting and even hiking when I stop to make lunch or coffee. Way above normal temps this Winter. I was almost waiting to find bot flies in some of the squirrels I took. Edited March 3, 2023 by DirtTime Spelling
grampy Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Keep the Permethrine in stock. It's going to be a real bad year for ticks! Man...do I hate those nasty little buggers! Farflung 1
dbHunterNY Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 i feel like every year people say ticks are worse than last. unlike many other states here in NY we're hamstrung with any efforts to do prescribed burns which creates tick utopias and less biodiversity for habitat. people say ticks are bad in Albany Pine Bush Preserve but whenever I've gotten ticks from hunting there it was when i was in an area untouched and especially untouched with burning happening in adjacent sections. i typically wear warm or cold weather compression base layers. never use permethrin because I never plan ahead to prep my clothes. i should start using it though. escpen 1
Cabin Fever Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 Very fortunate (and thankful) I have never seen a tick around here! I'm sure that day is probably coming though... mowin 1
Bucndoe Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 I mix my own Permethrin and spray my outer clothes often. Always have some on hand

I REALLY wish we could do burns … legally.
