11/11 am

Hit the stone stand out back for 5 hours. Planned to sit till the rain came which I did. I had a coyote pass by behind me just in the first haze of morning. I did not have a great shot at him and did not want to mess up my morning sit so let him pass. At 7:30 I caught a glimpse or two of one angling up the ridge out front left. Did not get a decent look but one deer all alone cruising is prob a buck. The direction he came from he had to of gone by one of my other stands. It was boring the rest of the sit. Supposed to rain all afternoon and night. Back at it in the am as rain permits.

11/12 all day 55-49

Sat the brush blind over the swamp on state. Sat dark to dark.  11 hours and not one deer. Rained all night and stopped before dawn, dropping temp and supposed rut. Wind perfect. Leave and 1/2 mile down road car pulled over all smacked up just hit a deer...

hit Stone stand for about an hour. Rain came early so I moved to the tower and sat another couple hours under cover and tested the heat.
went back and cleared some limbs for gun season in the rain.

pm

down on state over the swamp again. Really like to get eyes on that biggin just to know he's ok. Maybe snow tonight. Doubt it'll stick with it so wet.

Nice cold morning. Slipped into the ridge stand out back. Sat for two hours. The walk is so short I did not warm up getting in and feet got cold lol. Keeping my unbothered by deer streak alive and well!

Dragged my but out again this morn even though I wanted to hit snooze. I hit the Stone Stand out back and was up and in by 6am. Having my usual uninterrupted morning. At about 7:40 I noticed one coming across from behind right to left. I immediately noticed it was a nice buck, real dark coat and light antlers. He was easing along and stopping to eat ferns and leaves. I got situated to shoot behind me, which is tricky as the tree trunk splits 4 ways. Three behind me and one on my right. I have to stick the cross bow through to shoot without whacking the limbs. He hits a lane at about 30 yards and I stop him with a grunt. Shot looked good and he took off and ran about 50 yards and stopped flicking his tail. I saw him start moving again and lost him but heard what I thought was crashing. I gave him 30 minutes and got down and checked hit site and check blood. Found the arrow with good blood and a good blood trail that turned very good. He had fallen just out of site, went maybe 70 yards. And for the first time a deer crossed the creek for me and died so I did not have to drag him more than a few feet. Went and got the ATV and gave him a ride home. He was a buck that summered here. 7 point 2.5 year old. My freezer will soon not look so bad! I had sat in stands like 21 hours prior to him and my last deer sighting!

Very nice! You mentioned he stayed there all summer. Curious if he stayed there all fall too or did he leave, then recently show up again? Seems like 90+% of the bucks that are around here in the summer are gone by the end of Sept, and most are never seen again.

Oh he left. All my bucks over 1.5 took off like usual right when the apples and berries started getting scarce and the corn and beans a mile down the road started popping! He just showed back up 11/1. A couple of the others starting showing a week or so prior.

Fighting a head cold so have been taking it easy for the last day and a half. Got out right out back in ridge stand for last hour in the snow. Had a grey fox follow my trail in right to my ladder stand. No deer seen.

Sat out a couple evenings and saw a small buck from the tower one night and one way out in the timber as well as bumped 1 two nights coming back in from stand. Getting ready to cut up a doe tonight.
