Cabin Fever Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 (edited) So last fall, I was hitting it hard without seeing much activity or getting many trailcam pics. I had hunted pretty much every day and was really frustrated and burned out. Even though I had been hunting every day, it was like I had missed the rut or something, as it didn't seem like anything was going on. It just wasn't fun anymore and I was mentally and physically beat. I woke up on 11/15/21 to see that I hadn't gotten any pics (from 10 cell cams) overnight. I was supposed to be on vacation that day, but I decided to say screw it, and go to work to take a break from hunting and recharge. While at work, I kept getting pic notifications on my phone. I about fell on the floor when I checked and saw that my target buck was finally on the move during the day! I got pics of him walking by 4 (Yes, FOUR) of my treestands, while I was at work licking my wounds! I learned my lesson! Keep the faith and don't give up! Those last 7-10 days can be the best days of the season! You can see my "empty" treestand over his shoulder... UGH!! Edited November 11, 2022 by Cabin Fever Phantom, Otto, mowin and 11 others 13 1
mowin Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 The grind can definitely get to a person. Especially getting up early. I'm not a morning person. Cabin Fever 1
Swamp_bucks Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 I feel you on that one. I can’t hunt the next couple days but keep telling myself that next week is the best weather we have and something is bound to screw up and I don’t have to work so I’ll grind out the rest of the season. Cabin Fever Posted November 11, 2022 Author Posted November 11, 2022 My son and I were just talking about this topic. He reminded me of the last few successful seasons we've had in the last 7 days of bow season. It seems like we just have late bloomers in our area and the big bucks just aren't on their feet during the day until Nov. 11-16th around us. Still time for the magic to happen!! My son's buck killed on Nov. 13, 2019 Buck and doe I killed on Nov. 16, 2020 My son's buck killed on Nov. 16, 2021 Robhuntandfish, BowmanMike, Mattypotpie8s and 5 others 7 1

Yeah, that was in 2020 and the buck above. I had practically given up all hope, then it happened....... on Nov. 16th! Edited November 11, 2022 by Cabin Fever ZAG 1
BowmanMike Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 I was gone for most of October and i am pumped for this weekend and next week. I should remember that for next year...but it really does seem like this year the rut is very condensed. Hoping for a big archery buck, should be easy to eclipse my personal best it was a small one, lol. The six I passed this week would have been my biggest archery one. Robhuntandfish 1
