I was thinking this morning how nice it is not to see all the political topics and bickering that many of us experienced on the other forum. I get enough political BS on the news and in the media and I just don't need to see it on a hunting and fishing site. It has its place, but not here. As for the bickering, I think some people have been on their best behavior, so we'll see how long that lasts!

Thanks for stepping up @nywaw!!

Agreed.

I do think that we have a couple factors at play here.

First, it's hunting season. Help keeping things on topic.

Second, this site is new. Members are getting used to a new, but familiar, platform.  And are appreciative to have a site that has a owner front and center.

Usually, it was between hunting seasons when things got ugly on the old forum.

I haven’t gone to look for the political section but I haven’t even seen the monthly one pop up in the recent activity once

I've looked at it, but mainly to see if things were staying civil.  Lol.

I think the politics sub brought out the worst in people (myself included). Doesn't seem to be an issue here with the very limited political section. And once this forum starts to attract members from outside the older forum, I doubt you will see it devolve into bickering.

If desired, I could send the link to a few hunting/fishing pals in the city - one of whom made the cover of the NY hunting regs book this year.  A younger group, so not sure how much time they spend on forums, but it would be a fresh perspective. Fair warning, probably BHA members.
