About that time when the males will come out, the females and cubs will be out and about soon too.

Ohhh. Cool.

I'm putting out cams at my spot to see if bear wanders thru this spring.

I love to see them around my cameras too although one was chewed on substantially and another got roughed up some.  Plenty of times they aren't bothered.  Seems like every year for the last 12-14 I've had pics of them but only once did I see a live one.  One time gobbler hunting I saw tracks in the mud.

FREE TO ANY NY HUNTER:

As many black bears as you can trap and transfer from my Sparta, NJ property. Please take me up on this offer!!

Yes, we have a big bear problem in NJ. My average afternoon deer sit is 3-5 bears. Bait makes it worse, of course. We do our best to not use bait for the deer except years we have no acorns.

I've pretty much forgotten what an acorn looks like.......maybe THIS year they'll be back?

Got a pretty big (I think) bear at the Avon spot.  This is an overgrown hillside pasture surrounded by farm land.  Not much woods around, but he musta been holed up somewhere nearby.

Bears are cool to see when you’re not living with too many. I used to love seeing the odd bear now and then. NJ did a piss poor job managing them due to political pressure, and now they are more plentiful than deer where I hunt in this state. Yet at our NY camp, we have only ever gotten a few trail cam pix of one younger male and he disappeared before this last fall season.
