hueyjazz Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 I'm legit. Grandma was from Tipperary. And it's a long way there. Corn beef is in crockpot with cabbage and carrots. The US version of what's supposed to be Guiness is in fridge. If you have ever had the real stuff, you know what an insult the US stuff is. However Irish Coffee with my friend Jamie is next on menu. crappyice 1
2BuckBizCT Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Not irish, but man I had a ton of years of fun times on this day in NYC and Hoboken when they would open the bars at 8-9am and you would hit one bar per drink (bar crawl) all day and into the night. Young 20's vomiting on the streets by 11am and march madness all together. Epic times!

If you're talking about authentic Irish- corned beef aint it. My wife is from Ireland and her entire family never heard of it until coming to the States. 2BuckBizCT 1
hueyjazz Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Virgil You are quite correct it not being a dish native to Ireland. It was a dish that Irish immigrants of 1900's ate when coming to US. Granny and her family were one part of them. Brisket was a cheaper cut of meat and corning (salting) tenderized it. Granny didn't eat mutton but loved her corn beef. We did have corn beef every St Pat's by my dad's command. With cabbage, potatoes and carrots which are authentic to Irish. PraiseDiana and virgil 1 1

My mother's best friend is from Tipperary. He son and I were also friendly. We marched with Tipperary a few years. Guinness from Ireland (especially paired with the full Irish Breakfast is my last meal! Saw Black 47 at Characters in Riverdale one year in the 90s before they were a "household" name. If you know Characters you know how cool that was. Tiny place. The next year we saw them at the Roxy.
