G-man, have you ever tried trout lilies? They are found in the same type of area. It's a low, broad leaf plant, like a leek, but it has spotted leaves. I like them even more than leeks.

Native Americans used them for all kinds of medicine. They have a nice mild flavor.Trout-Lily-4-768x994.jpg.a40493a8a4e2af85426e3d645aa3519f.jpg

Wild leeks are starting to pop. They are hot  now. But make a good dip.  In a few weeks the leaves will be used  in place of lettuce on my sandwiches..  then  the large bulbs  harvested and pickled...   yum!!

I looked at my "plot" yesterday.  Nothing showing.

Ive seen them.  Have not tried. Im more  into  mushrooms  in spring.   Oysters are plentiful and  grill up  well  with the leeks on top of a nice steak.
