Marion Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Got my coyote back yesterday. Looking for some honest opinions on it. Don't mind the paint on the walls. Trying to figure out best color for the room.
2BuckBizCT Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 IMO, it’s terrible. A kill photo would be helpful, but the face is like a cartoon and neck/mid section is way too small. Maybe a mis-measured animal on too small of a form? But tnat doesn’t explain the face being so bad. NYRturkeycall, Marion, Kayak Ken and 2 others 1 4

Wolc123 Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 (edited) It looks like a tall skinny kitty cat body with a doggy head sewn on. How much did it cost ? Edited April 8, 2023 by Wolc123 GreeneHunter, Marion and 2BuckBizCT 2 1

Wolc123 Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 That reminds me of a big Canadian black bear that my buddy had done a few years ago. It was one of the largest bears ever taken in the camp up there but his taxidermist put it on a tiny form. His brother killed a significantly smaller bear the following year, down near his southern-tier NY camp. His brother took his to a different taxidermist and it looks bigger than his does. Marion 1
Marion Posted April 8, 2023 Author Posted April 8, 2023 For reference this is what it was supposed to look like. Same pose and base. It's neither of those things. And the more I look at it the more the face colors don't even look like my coyote. Mine had black nose this one has light brown on the nose. And I know for damn sure black fur doesn't turn light brown in tanning.
Splitear Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 I would not be happy if that is what I got back from the taxidermist. 9jNYstarkOH, Kayak Ken, Doebuck1234 and 3 others 1 5

The_Real_TCIII Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 The hideousness of that mount will haunt my dreams for all of eternity Marion, ATbuckhunter, 2BuckBizCT and 1 other 1 3
2BuckBizCT Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 I sent that mount to a friend for their honest opinion. Their response was: Does it take quarters and sing? Mattypotpie8s, Jeremy K, Marion and 2 others 5
Upstate Nerdneck Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Was he using Wile E. Coyote as a model? I'm new to getting taxidermy done, but that's looks comically bad. 2BuckBizCT and Marion 2
nywaw Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Unfortunately, that's quite bad. Did the taxidermist have other coyote mounts that he showed you that led you to believe he would mount them well? Marion 1
