LET EM GROW Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Lets have a little fun and maybe help another if in need.. Post up your turkey patterns.. Gun/choke/shell/shot size used and what distance. Lead TSS you name it.. I personally handload Tungsten in my newer Turkey guns, and stick to lead in my older shotguns and inherited firearms.. Posted is a pattern I've been hunting with in my 20 ga for a few years. 1) 20ga Stevens 301 Indian Creek .562. With a 1-5/8oz payload of 8.5 TSS at 40 yards. circle is 9" in diameter. The other two patterns are from the choke I machined from scratch for my 410.. Not overly thrilled(it will kill) but still experimenting/modifying that one.. Stevens 301 410 Homemade choke .390" shooting a 7/8 oz and 1 oz payloads at 40 yards nywaw 1
Spysar Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 I figure there's no need to pattern a gun I've been using for 30 years. LET EM GROW 1

mowin Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 If I were to change something up, I'd definitely pattern it. TSS is expensive, and I know how it patterns. DirtTime and LET EM GROW 2
WNY Bowhunter Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 This year I'll be packing a brand new turkey set up as my primary gobbler killer..Retay GPS XL with an Indian Creek choke and topped off with a Sig Sauer Romeo 5 red dot. For loads, I'll be using some 12 guage 3" 2 oz TSS handloads made by my buddy at "BV Customs". I fired 5 rds after sighting in and thr pattern was deadly out to 50+. At close range I'll be aiming at the base of the neck... Nice, even pattern at 35. I'm sure I could spend alot of money and test various load recipes and choke combos but how dead do you really need them? dbHunterNY, virgil, mowin and 3 others 6

DirtTime Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 No pictures but I've got a core of about 6" from the shot I tested and a full spread of inside about 20" out to 35 yards so I'm GTG. But, I was recently looking at some shotguns so I may have to try a rush patterning session if I get silly and buy another shotgun. Most likely not but at this point I'm not ruling it completely out. Lawdwaz Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 LEG…….few are the guys that pattern at 40 yards anymore and even FEWER that shoot a 30” circle. I guess it’s just the way I learned 40 years ago?!?! LET EM GROW 1
