Nomad Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 (edited) Their issues were many . Real gun that could actually fire real bullets , live ammo mixed in with the blanks , nobody checking and rechecking, the gun and blanks . The fault lies more with the producers and person in charge of the gun and training . A number of years ago I worked on a low budget movie being made here . John Mellencamp was one of the stars, we used one gun in the movie . It was a Colt 1911 .45, that gun was on my permit ,I had total control over the gun , it had a barrel restriction, the center part of the barrel was necked down to the width of maybe pencil lead so if by some chance a live round was fired it would not exit the muzzle . But there were no live rounds ,I had one box of blank loads . I loaded the proper number for the scene , went over the nomenclature of the gun with John, he did the scene and handed the gun back to me . I had no movie gun handling training , just normal gun safety , it’s not hard . Oh and when he was pointing and firing the gun at a “ person “ it was really just pointed towards a cement wall in a building ,with a camera against it looking at him . That’s how they film a lot point camera at a person he does all his lines, then another day point it at the person he’s talking to ,they do all their lines ,then it’s mixed into a conversation in editing . Making a movie really ruins watching them from then on . https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0157007/ Edited April 22, 2023 by Nomad grampy 1
Phantom Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 Alec Baldwin manslaughter charges dropped in fatal 'Rust' shooting
Phantom Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 So you can point a gun at somebody pull the trigger then lie that you didn't pull the trigger when there is video of you pulling the trigger and nothing happens to you wow!!! GreeneHunter 1
Spysar Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 People want to curb gun violence then this. Sends a great message. You can blatantly shoot someone, and KILL them, and walk away with no punishment whatsoever. And I think this tool wants to finish the movie.... grampy 1

There has been a recent trend of targeting individuals who use firearms in self-defense. This appears to be an attempt to dissuade people from owning guns altogether, as even in cases of robbery or home invasion, defending oneself can result in arrest and criminal charges. But if you happen to be some tool celebrity that promotes gun control and then shoots somebody that's okay see what I mean. Edited April 22, 2023 by Phantom

In the “self defense” cases, are you talking about the girl in Washington County who was in the wrong driveway, the young man who rang the wrong doorbell, the cheerleader who went to the wrong car, and the folks who’s basketball rolled into the wrong yard? If so, I don’t think any of those qualify as self defense. Idiots with guns, same as Baldwin in my opinion, the difference being in that all of those other than Baldwin had the intent of shooting someone. I don’t think Baldwin did, but that’s still not an excuse. Of course, I don’t know all there is to know, so I could be wrong about any one of these, but from the outside, they all look pretty bad. If you’re talking about other justified self defense cases being targeted, I’m just not too aware of them. Ultimately, when you possess a firearm or other potentially dangerous instrument, you assume a lot of responsibility. There have been a lot of cases reported recently where people failed in that responsibility, and beyond the innocent victims of those shootings, the other damage is to gun owners who can and do respect the responsibility of possessing a firearm. You are 100% correct. To claim self defense, one's life must be in eminent danger, with no other options available. And no way to escape. It was spelled out when we were taking the course to get our permits. These recent shootings were not justified. They make the law abiding gun owners, look like trigger happy nut cases. The Baldwin case had so many basic firearm safety violations. That it's ludicrous the way that firearm was handled, on that movie set. It was a tragedy waiting to happen. And it did. Because no one treated that firearm as the loaded weapon it turned out to be. Splitear 1

I feel like one of the absolute worst things that we can do as responsible gun owners is rally around those who are irresponsible. I’m not claiming that anyone is doing that, but it does happen with some folks. You can explain away anything if you set your mind to it. grampy, GreeneHunter and left field 2 1

And by the way you don't know the details of any of those stories and dont think they will not lie about what happen to fit there narrative because they do it all the time .
