Pictures from the Hawkeye Primitive Archery Shoot

Here are some pictures from this weekends Primitive Archery Shoot at Hawkeye Bowmen. We had a great time. Dino ran a very challenging woods walk, there was a hawk and knife throw, a long distance clout shoot and a turkey shoot. Some of the guys camped out for the weekend and we had a real nice pot luck dinner on Saturday night.

I was very fortunate to have won the turkey shoot. The winner every year of the turkey shoot gets to use the traveling box call for the year. The winner fills out the box call journal describing their hunts and returns it along with the call the following year for someone else to use. I am looking forward to using the call this season. Here is a picture from the turkey shoot. I'm the guy with the faded blue shirt and gray beard.

Good to see the old traditions still going on.  Congratulations to you Brian, well done!!

I have fond memories of traditional shoots at Hawkeye back in the 90's.  If I close my eyes I can see Dick Glenna & Dick Zawacki, both smiling and having a good time doing their thing.
