hueyjazz Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 I just got back from my greatly delayed tour of National parks. Frankly, I've been embarrassed how much of Europe I've seen, and how little of the US I've done. I had decided once I retired, I would start my long-awaited tour of National Parks as a great way to see US. Covid struck and I was deemed essential as facilities manager. We made an optic used in a lot of analysis and medical equipment. We ran facilities 24/7. I delayed my retirement by two years just to get to get over the hump. And then my wife decides she will retire early as I can't have too much fun. Owned our retirement home for a few years before Covid and wife moved there. I retire finally but have to clean out city house we lived in for 38 years. Get that done finally and house takes less than a week to sell with a bidding war. I decide I no longer understand real estate. BUT FINALLY Went to Grand Canyon, Byrce Canyon and Zion this leg with wife. And just so we keep this about hunting, I got my first Pronghorn deer! With rental car. Leap out of ravine and over guardrail onto car. (No injuries, or air bag or even screaming wind bag. And through the miracle of duct tape, kept going) By the way, those deer are fast and big. left field, Splitear, Ncountry and 4 others 7 Quote
Splitear Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Awesome trip. Sorry to hear about the car, but it certainly adds to the story Quote
Otto Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Those are three great National Parks! Zion was my favorite on that trip, although Yellowstone was a close second. Congratulations on your retirement! Quote
left field Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Someone once described Zion as "biblical." I agree. Sorry about the car. Quote My Instagram
crappyice Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Congratulations on retiring and awesome trip...what's next - LA? NYC? Chicago? Philly? That would certainly my show the juxtaposition to how beautiful those natural places are! Quote
Bucksnbows Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Not to worry, that should buff right out. Our National Parks are a gem. I’ve visited close to 75% of all of them so far and would love to see all before I leave this world. phade Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Those are good visits. The National Parks for some reason never heard an allure for me until the past year or two. My wife and I really want to visit Glacier. Came close to booking this year but lost out to an extended family trip to MB. Seeing more of the US will be fun. Same as you, while I have traveled a fair amount, I’ve spent a lot of vacation time outside the US. Quote
Moho81 Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 5-6 years ago my wife and I did a trip out west through Grand Teton's, Yellowstone, Big Horn National Forrest, The Blackhills National Forrest, Badlands National Park. It was unbelievable and now I want to continue exploring all the national parks including all the ones that you went to. I'm jealous! Quote
