Not exactly live, but a recap of my successful hunt last week. I didn’t hunt much last year at all after suffering from a serious injury at work. But I had my cams out and saved many of the pics from last season. One buck in particular made it another year and made an appearance around the end of August, still in velvet. Then he disappeared. So I really wasn’t planning on spending much time in the woods out of the gate. Then on opening day he showed up at last light on cam. So I had planned on getting in on the 2nd. As I was about to head out, he started parading back and forth past my cam. I decided not to push him. I went out on the 3rd, but didn’t make it for a full sit. I came down with Covid that day and bailed early. So I patiently waited for some North winds and a temp drop for the next 3 weeks. I would get pics of him pretty consistently, almost every night. He was bedding very close by, but no daytime pics. Finally on the 27th, I got the wind that I was waiting for and a significant drop in temperature. It was a quiet evening with not much moving. Around 5:30 a doe busted out of the thicket and he was not far behind. He passed my blind at 10 yards broadside and with a double lung hit, he did not go far. A rough measurement was taken and he was just shy of 154” gross

Thanks. Trying my best. This past year has been a rough one, and I’m just very thankful that I was able to get on one this year. Actually very thankful for many things. Having some more time on my hands has allowed me not to push it and I hunt less now then I normally would. But I was able to focus on when it counted the most.
