Hunting clothes

Of the major brands, I mostly have First Lite.  I have several pieces that I layer depending on how cold it is, etc.   During archery, if it is really warm I just wear the light merino wool sweater. If it is colder I wear that, plus a Sitka pullover Berber fleece sweatshirt I got on sale.  It has a built in muff and face mask which I really like.

The First Lite stuff is very well made and is warm and lightweight.  I wait until they have their “Biggest Sale of the Year” and buy 1 or 2 items.

I have a bunch of LL Bean gear that I bought 20 years ago and still use a lot of it.  None of it is recently purchased.

I just bought a Kuiu daypack and I like the layout of the pockets and zippers.  Looking forward to using that tomorrow.

I have the Redhead Silent stalker bibs & 3-1 parka from BP. 100%  waterproof.  I do a lot of trips during  gun season down to camp. Usually will sit from sun up to late afternoon if I’m not staying that night, all day if I am.   Sit in blinds we have built on the property so don’t do a lot of walking once at the blind. Hand muff with hand warmers and I am good all day.   Keeps me plenty warm. Like that I have different options for the parka depending on the weather and temperature

Main thing for me is hands and feet. Core stays good. So got some  Weston socks that I haven't used yet. Now looking at getting a hand muff that takes hand warmers. Plus walk in light put layers on in woods and socks. Should stay warm all day long opening day.

I used to wear merino wool socks and they were warm, but I switched to alpaca and they are even warmer and softer.  I wear them in a rubber Dry Shod insulated boot and they are good for me thru the winter when hunting.  For ice fishing, I use a different boot.

I use muck boots artic sports. Use regular socks walking in and change out. Frost bite from military really messed up my toes and fingers. Will look into those socks usually use wibwams.

Mish Mash of stuff for me. Got the UA base layers. And UA cold weather pants, held up with Carhartt suspenders. Layers of nylon and wool. Smartwool socks are the best I've ever worn. Got the insulated gloves with the cut out fingers, that flip over to make mittens with a hand warmer inside. Got plenty of stuff to put on depending on how cold it gets. But as I age, I just can't sit as long as I used to when it gets real cold.

Clothing wise it all depends on what I need. I typically look for the best bang for my buck. I have plenty of wool under layers that I can wear under my camo shell if it gets cold.  A few years back I splurged and spent more than I normally would on an early season UA rain jacket. The quality was terrible and customer service was less than helpful. That reinforced to me that name and big price tag don't mean quality..

I've found that the biggest difference with modern camo is the actual weight is so much lighter and regulates heat better. I have cheap stuff that will keep me warm . Walking around in it though will cause over heating. It's the perfect balance of staying warm while sitting and not over heating when moving. I think most people over look that when talking about modern camo.

Should have mentioned I bought an IWOM few years back. Kinda like the heater body suit but the top is like a heavy jacket. Like a heavy jacket and sleeping bag in one. Zip yourself completely in it, boots and all. Rolls up and can strap to my backpack then put on in the stand. Definitely bulky and heavy but if you gonna sit in the same stand or blind all day when it's cold it's worth it. I don't usually bring it for just a morning or just an afternoon sit but great for a dark to dark. Built in hand warmer muff and face shield. They are pricey but they have size returns that you can get at a discount. My wife loves hers. Great for people who get cold easily

I've always wondered about those and the heater body suits.
