Who Will Ya Be Hunting With Opening Day?

For me it will be my lifelong friend and hunting partner. We rode the same school bus together. Also his daughter, my God daughter.  And a combat vet who hunts our property. My youngest grandson can't make it this year. I'm kinda bummed about that. But maybe on Thanksgiving??

All "the old guy's " are gone. Now we are the old guy's! First time in years we don't have a young hunter to mentor. Definitely got one lined up for next year! He will be tagging along some this year.

Family, friends and tradition. That's what it's all about for me.

What about you???

My hunting buddy moved away this summer.  Fortunately, my nephew will be here.   I have 2 neighbors hunting a part of my property as well.  I can’t wait for my grandson to be able to tag along!  He’s only 2 so it will be a while…..

This year we I will have my chili dinner Friday to kick off the weekend and the menu is getting huge.  This will be year #4 and think we are looking at 30-45 people.

opening day there will be 5 actively hunting together. My dad, 2 long time friends a new friend @Redneck4Life will be coming down again and myself.  I will have them spread out over .7 miles of 2 ridge systems. Pretty much if a deer is moving on that mountain one of us should see it.

My best friend since we were 5. Hunting together 47 years this season. And a couple other close friends we’ve been hunting with for 20-30 years and their sons and sons’ two friends. Two adjoining farms. We eat dinner in Cooperstown Thursday night then alternate between the two camps for dinner and sighting in on Friday. My brother will join us after a 30+ year hiatus, but not until next year. I already can’t wait for that and we haven’t had this season yet.

@Swamp_bucks thanks for the invite again. It will become a tradition. Can't wait to get together and get hunting spots set up. The get together meal you guys put on is a great time. Great food great company. Couple beers. I'm ready to help drag that monster buck out we all hope walks out for your dad. Gonna be a fun 4 days. Hopefully I can come thru filling tag with new 7mm08 thanks for giving me same spot as last year.

I’ll be hunting with my dad, 2 brothers, 2 brother in laws & my cousin. Heading down to camp tomorrow night. Everyone else is coming down on Thursday. Campfire by the lake Thursday night. Hoping to fill a tag with the bow on Thursday so I don’t have to hunt Friday. Been a busy spring, summer and fall with work. Hunted a lot since the opener. Would be nice to lay on the couch all day Friday and stare out at the lake.   Maybe get a nap in to. Lol. Everything is ready to go. Bag is packed, truck is loaded!!!

Wife and I will be out , shes been my hunting buddy for a bit now . She would rather bow hunt as the weathers a bit nicer . But she’ll stick it out for the gun opener . Hoping she can score a deer with her 7-08 .

My brother-in-law and nephew, his dad, three uncles and a cousin. Opening weekend is always a great time with good drinks Good food and hopefully this year good deer.  We are hoping to get my young nephew his first buck. Thursday night through Monday afternoon. hang out, eat drink, scout on Friday, and then hunt the weekend.

I belong to a small hunting club. 40ish members but there’s a core group of about 12-15 of us that bow hunt. During the bow season we have Saturday night dinners where we eat and drink like kings. That calms down a bit during the gun season but the core guys are still out there hunting hard.  To say we help each other out is an understatement but the absolute best part of this season is I will be hunting from the ground with my 12 year old daughter. I’m trying hard to get her her first deer.
