Said she looked out the window and  Jim was mowing his grass without a shirt on , Dave nextdoor was out front with no shirt, and I was watering the grass with no shirt, while juggling a cigar, beer and a hose . She said us old guys should keep our shirts on ,it’s not a pretty sight .

Ha ha ha Im from an era where as kids we never wore shirts in the summer, my Dad came home from work and never wore a shirt till going to work the next day .

I can’t believe she body shamed me !

Until the last ten years or so I was shirtless outside all the time doing yard work, washing my truck etc.   I was also smoking a cigar while doing said chores but that too is a thing of the past.   Beer outside? Yup

I have become super sensitive (mentally) to sun exposure. Skin cancer is rampant on my Dad’s side in men. My grandfather has had several bouts, my uncle at least two now, and my Dad called me a few months back to let me know they found it on him at the corner of his mouth. Had it removed and recovery has been a b!tch. In fact all three have had procedures they don’t recommend going through and they’re the three hardest headed toughest guys I know. If they say it sucked, I believe then.

I’m fairly certain other men in that lineage had cancer that killed then and probably had bouts of skin cancer that went undiagnosed and had an impact.

Short of the beach, my days of enjoying the sun shirtless are limited.

Have had skin cancer three times (melanoma's) I can attest it isn't fun or a joke. Half my nose was removed and reconstructed. I wear my scars as victory achievements. It also runs in the family from my father's side. It's taken him, my uncle, and two cousins so far. I'm the lucky one.

from growing up on the family farm i think my genetics were somehow altered. 100+ degrees or 65 and sunny won't matter. I only get a farmers tan and any sunny exposure beyond that for me is like nuclear radiation exposure, tracking REM and practically wear a TLD so I don't burn. if i did take my shirt off it'd be like staring into the sun with all the glare. haha  all those years wearing nothing for UV protection when doing farm work getting a farmers tan in hind sight probably wasn't good. cancer sucks.

I'm on the no shirt side. I rarely wear a shirt indoors year-round. Always wear shorts indoors year round and sleep in boxers (no shirt). I never put pants on to run outside even in winter if i'm only going outside for a few minutes. I like tank tops for summer. Easy to throw on and off
