Robhuntandfish
What do you plant so early? And do you plant again later or does it not all get eaten down by fall? Seed bed looks great. And I dunno bout you but I love that kinda work as compared to work work. Cabin Fever
Are you getting any rain? I've been delaying overseeding my clover/chicory plot, as we haven't had a drop of rain in ~10 days now and we "might" have a chance of a shower on Saturday. I was holding off until right before a rain.

I was holding off until right before a rain. I did some overseeding on Sunday with some rain in the forecast for Tues night and now that looks like a bust and no rain til the weekend. My frost seeding this year hasn't taken as well as last two years. We've had a ton of rain and then nothing. Hoping the fall plots fair well. Upstate Nerdneck
I wish I could be doing work on my plots. My neighbors/relatives have turned 20 head of cattle loose on my property, despite the state police visiting twice, they've made 0 effort to put them away. So instead of plotwork to help the herd, I have to build about a mile of barbed wire fence in the next couple weeks. People absolutely suck. Stubborn1vt
Overseeded two areas this afternoon. We're getting a little rain shower now. One was a tiny plot in the woods that I went over with the chain harrows last week. Spread some clover/chicory on it, along with a little pelletized lime and triple 10. I cut some trees over the winter to get more light in there. I'm hoping it takes off. The other area was a strip in my one acre plot that was too wet to frost seed. It has finally dried out and has some clover growing, but an awful lot of bare dirt showing. I put some alsike clover on it and a little lime. Wishing I had some rye or oats. I'd really like to get something growing without any kind of tillage. I'll just bring up weed seed if I scuff it. Guess we'll see. I have a couple areas that are showing good results from frost seeding. I need to snap some pics next time I go out. Robhuntandfish

Corn found a 83 day field corn..sick of early frost killing it before black tip occurs. Should be dried down and tipped by sept. JohnPlav
They’re prepping to plant something across the street. It’s been corn for a few years, so maybe it’ll be soybeans. LET EM GROW and Rusty

Wolc123
I wasn’t going to plant my corn until Saturday, but it looks like all day rain in the forecast now. As long as I don’t have too much trouble with my planter, I should be able to get most of it in Friday, after work. I’ve been having some issues with a drive chain coming off of it, on occasion, the last few years. It’s definitely my most important piece of foodplotting equipment. I’ve got all of the ground (5-1/4 acres total) plowed and disked one time now. I’ll hit it again with the disk on Wed evening, then one last time Friday, then cultimulch, and then plant. I’ve got plenty of fertilizer and seed. The only piece of equipment, that I don’t have redundancy on, is the planter. No other food plot, consistently provides the return on the investment for me, as rr corn does. There’s just something about that combination of cover and carbs, that no other foodplot can rival. The planter is the key to optimizing the returns. It minimizes fertilizer requirements, by only putting it in the rows. It also minimizes the Roundup requirement, because I only need to spray it on the rows ( I mechanically cultivate between the rows at the same time that I am spraying). The sprayer boom nozzles are spaced the same as the corn planter is, and is mounted on the tractor front loader. Rusty and dmandoes
