FuelSnap: Oil prices down to lowest levels since the start of 2022!

Just wanted to pass along, I've been using FuelSnap all winter to check prices and fill from the cheapest distributor.  Great service and site.  This site isn't affiliated with them, just wanted to give my own experience with it and share the recent email.

Check those tanks...the heat likely kicked on during this cold spurt these past few days.

Heating oil prices remain down at their lowest levels since the start of 2022. We're seeing an average price of about $2.86 a gallon in the northeast as we head into the weekend. This is down 50% from the high of $5.66 we saw in April, 2022! Hopefully prices continue to trend down this year.

I just filled my tank as I was dipping below 1/4 and we are still hitting cold temps at night.  I watch my tank and fill when needed.  Fuelsnap also has a high tech tank monitor you can get alerts with and check from your phone.  I don't have it, but it's pretty neat!

I have a mini indoor Blink camera that I have pointed at my oil gauge, for $30 it’s a great help being over 500 miles away, just another idea for tank monitoring.

None of it has gone down in price here. In fact, it's climbed back up to almost $4 per gallon for gas in the past month and my propane company is charging $4.59 (last I knew about a month and a half ago) a gallon.

I highly recommend https://www.smartoilgauge.com/

Obviously a bit more than the blink cam that you have but if you ever wanted to get more insight into usage and stuff highly recommend it. It's fantastic!

Do you own your own tanks? Lazy week I had my tanks filled at  my house and barn  for 2.81$.

Thanks, I had not heard of this one yet.  I will be ordering one for sure, the app layout looks great from what I see.   I have been looking into propane smart monitors.  I think next trip up I will check the oil tank to see if I need any of their adapters first.

No. We were supposed to be here just until we paid the place off then out of here. That plan went south thanks to...NM, we all know who to thank for all these high prices on everything from canned beans to houses.

I hear ya!  if you’re going to be there a while look into buying your own tanks. If you shop around and wait until someone close pays the delivery fees you can save better than 50% a gallon. It’s a bit of a pain having to call around and play one company against another but it’s worth the savings to me!
