Niagara river

So Samantha won a charter boat fishing trip,on the river . I know nothing about the river but it looks like all kinds of fish, what would be a good time ( date ) to book it ? She doesn’t care what species but Id hate her to go in some off time .

Always good for salmon .  Spring or fall is better .  Unless the charter includes the mouth at lake ontario then any time a good charter captain  will put you on fish

Fall for sure ! I've caught them as early as August in the river but that was an extremely cold wet summer. The salmon really start to come in through bow season into gun season.

Upper or lower Niagara ?  I prefer the upper, since it’s all about the meat for me (when it comes to fishing or hunting), and fish from the upper Niagara are much safer for you to eat.  In the upper river, smallmouth bass provide the bulk of the action.  it used to be a pretty good musky spot, but that has declined sharply over the last few years.  June 15 thru July 4 is a pretty good time to go, as is September 1 thru October.  

The lower Niagara is mostly about King Salmon, Steelhead, and Lake trout, starting around August 15 and continuing thru the winter.  Eat those at your own risk (definitely not recommended for women and children).

Yea.....upper or lower, vastly different fisheries.

I just don't find it fun anymore ,I'm sure I'll go again but I don't get the thrill I once did.

Shes in  Belize right now, and when she gets back will be moving into a house she bought ,so that’ll take up her time for a bit .
