I don't know the dunstans well.  One of the reasons our original strain were so dominant a forest component beyond just overtowering the other trees is that they flowered well after any dangers of frost.  Some years we just lose our mast crops and there is nothing we can do.  This might be one of those years.

Yes. These never got to flower. New Young leafs. Lost apple crop due to late frost and new chestnut leaves. Hoping they release. Looks like no apples again this year. Flowers toasted

Saw this in some young ash and oak today.  Leaves were all dead.  Should leaf out again, but that shot of cold didn't do things any good.  I'll be interested to see what the effects are on our apple trees.

Frost killed the chestnut leaves, apple blossoms and my young oak leaves. Depressing. No rain and now my lawn is brown and the hayfield is way behind. No rain in sight. Not sure what my plan is now for food plots.

damn I'm just seeing this. Didn't know chestnuts were susceptible to frost. Was bad enough I lost almost all my apples and a good portion of peaches to the frost. Now to worry about future years losing leaves and mast? sunofa
