Ever hear a deer growl?

I've got a doe crashing back and forth in the woods behind the house snorting and growling like she's lost her mind.  The growls are these deep guttural bellows that would be terrifying if I didn't know the source.  I assume that there's something after her fawn.

Have you ever heard a deer growl before?

Can't say I have.  You should have gotten some audio.

I've never heard a doe growl like you described Rusty. Pretty cool! I have heard and observed, from a doe, what sounded like a buck grunt a couple of times.

Yes i have video of a bobcat after a does fawn and she chased it many times

Only in the rut, and it always is a buck. Usually when more than one buck is chasing the doe. And it's loud and crazy sounding. Also when the buck to doe ratio is good, so never in NY.  I've never heard a defensive doe bawl in the spring though.
