phade Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Hunting partner and I flew down to Florida for a long weekend of fishing and visiting with my father who lives in Stuart. Day 1 was an inshore half day charter. We went out of Jensen Beach and landed 25 or so fish but a really wide variety. Four snook which was our personal goal as none of us had caught one before. My dad caught a Goliath Grouper - thankfully not one of 500lb size ones. But still a really nice specimen. Hit like a ton of bricks. And my hunting partner also caught a 25lb jack cravelle that put up a really good fight with runs into a mangrove along million dollar homes on the water. Made for a really exciting retrieval. It was burning line off the reel a few times. We also loaded up on mangrove and lane snapper, blue runners, etc. enough for a few meals. grampy, Cabin Fever, mowin and 7 others 10
grampy Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Great way to spend Father's day weekend with your dad! Great pictures! Beautiful looking area. Wishing ya tight lines for the rest of the trip!!!
nywaw Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Awesome! Love fishing down there! Nice fish and pics!
phade Posted June 20, 2023 Author Posted June 20, 2023 (edited) Day 2 of offshore was much more challenging. Really tough weather conditions with major waves. As a result the trolling was miserable results wise. Two Bonita with one getting claimed by the taxman. Moved to bottom fishing as a salvage. Caught mutton, Lane, Vermillion and Mangrove snapper. I caught a nice gray triggerfish. Plus a few other species. Flew home yesterday and whooped. Will plan on going again next year at this time - probably extend the trip a day to make it less rushed. Still had a blast. Edited June 20, 2023 by phade GreeneHunter and 2BuckBizCT 2
