The biggest gun deer that I got in to mount last season was a homegrown bruiser that was killed on ground that I grew up hunting by one of my cousins.  In fact, it's the biggest buck that has ever been killed in my family out of hundreds of bucks taken over the past 70 plus yrs!

This guy had been on the radar for the past 3 yrs and was well over 160" since 2020..

Just noticed it on these pics but is the one side where he was shot or is the hide ruffled up due to rutting/car hit? Big boy…

Also, the infamous "red barn" was nearly taken out last week by a tree..

I know I’m the only one (lol) that cares but, did you put a tape to him?

And yes, he is outstanding.    Congratulations to the hunter and you did a nice job on the taxidermy.

He indeed had a very rough cape on both shoulders.  I think is was mostly due to digging at ticks with some fighting added in.

I didn't "officially" score him after the 6O day drying period ended because my cousin lives out of state and had no interest in entering him into the state record books. I taped him at 158 and some change as a 8pt the night he was killed...would have went around 162 as a 9pt with the brow still there. He had a thing for breaking off brows apparently. His G2s were 13 and 14"!!!

Awesome 8pt. 11+ and 12" G2s look big on my buck. 160" 8 pt is a giant deer. Congrats to him!

Pretty sure Jesus deflected that tree. "The red barn?! Oh hell no!"
