Nomad Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 A bit late but, someone is coming to look at our camper today from PA, 3 plus hours away . I feel they’re pretty serious , but we did not discuss payment, I just figured someone would bring cash and not a personal check from out of state on a Sunday . That’s not an unrealistic expectation is it ? thanks
Lawdwaz Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Yes, it better be cash! Pictures of drivers license, plates etc. Not really something you'd think someone would try and steal but who knows these days? Personal protection is always a good thing, hint. Robhuntandfish, Nomad and grampy 2 1
grampy Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Larry hit the nail on the head here. Cash is king! Nomad 1
Bionic Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Yeah cash, and not unreasonable or unrealistic at all, and not to sound rude but it’s on the potential buyer to figure this all out. He/she is who is driving the 3 hrs each way, so if they don’t have what you require to make this sale, or want to haggle too low in price, then back down the highway they can go without the trailer. In my experiences with this type situation you are in, I’ve always been paid full asking price in cash. My big truck I sold, guy paid cash and never even sat in it. My dad just sold his 30’ 5th wheel, the couple paid full asking in cash. Good luck, I hope you experience this as well. Nomad 1
mowin Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 I got screwed once a long time ago. I took a check and his license plate number. Check bounce and I called the cops. License plate was stolen, and drivers license was fake. Lucky it was only $250. From then on, I make sure I say cash only multiple times during the conversation. Nomad 1
Skillet Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Cash, and look for the black line in the bills. Nomad 1 "Who the son sets free, is free indeed" John 8:36
Nomad Posted July 2, 2023 Author Posted July 2, 2023 Sold ! They came in a Subaru , that was a head scratcher ! He’s waiting for a brake controller for his tow vehicle, gave me a deposit and will come back with cash next week, when the controller is in . That’s two six hour round trips, I guess there’s no campers in Erie PA . I tossed in two marshmallow sticks , and half a roll of tin foil . grampy, mowin, Bionic and 3 others 6
Stubborn1vt Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Wife sold a horse trailer to a woman from Mass. 3+ hour drive. She showed up and paid full asking price in cash. $9K. She was upset when the lights wouldn't work. I had checked them with my truck, so I told her that her truck was the issue. Turned out to be a fuse and off she went.
2BuckBizCT Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 I sold my corvette in 2007 to a guy from Tennessee. He flew one way to Westchester County airport where i met him. $18K cash I counted and swiped with the black marker thing to see if they were real. We signed bill of sale, I gave him the title and he brought plates with him to drive it back to Tenn mowin 1
Moho81 Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 Nomad, I just sold our old hybrid camper. I priced it a couple hundred lower than other comparable campers on marketplace. I had near 50 people message me. The guy that bought it was in it for 30 seconds before he said he’d take it. I guess there’s still a high market for campers Nomad 1
