Recommended Posts

This year's hunting license came in the mail yesterday, this is now the 5th year in a row it's came in July 5th . I know it's early but sure gets the juices flowing .

I wish I knew the first year they came out,my dad got it the very first year for me . Early 90s if I recall . Been hunting free in NYS for years .

Any idea when they go on sale , in the past wasn't it towards the end of August ?

usually around the first full week of August

One good thing about wallyworld is that every year there is a good supply of the New Hunting Regulations issues available  right away.  I always take one early and free of charge.

While it is rough to find someone to help you in Sportingoods- even after asking and waiting for 15 minutes for an employee  to show up- at least the New Regs Guide is there.

So- this is Funny,I go to the Town Clerk to buy my new Hunting License  and every year-- there are no New Regs Guides available.

We Don't  have them in yet.-- Sorry.

While wallyworld will have the New Regs Guides- but no one around to help out. Or a new worker finally shows up and does not have enough training yet to help with your new License.

By the way,I worked at wallyworld for 7 years. All Managers are supposed to be trained to give assistance in all Depts.

Problem now is and some here might have noticed is that many Managers have been cut to save money. And now most have to help with the Stocking of Shelves. Again to save money.

So all will be dressed the same. You need to look for the partially hidden walkie- talkie under the vest and grab that Manager.

  Here is a good Story!

Back when,I unloaded the Containers in Receiving  at a Southren Orange County Wallyworld- the last hour from 8pm to 9pm was reserved for pallet Jacking all the new Stock Pallets to the proper areas so the incoming Night Crew could work off them.

So one night,I was pulling a heavy pallet out to Sporting Goods and a guy was there looking to buy a Hunting License.  He asked me for help.

Not everyone  is trained as a cashier mind you.   I knew that a Female Co- Manager was talking and Loafing in The Receiving  area. And she was still there when,I returned with my Pallet Jack to grab another full skid of product.

So,I told her that a customer was waiting in Sporting Goods and wanted to buy a Hunting License.

Yeah- Yeah.  That was her reply.

My next pallet,I made sure would put me on the Grocery side. She never made a move..

Take The Multiple Use Area Challenge.

It was exciting as a kid to go to town hall and buy my hunting license. I'm surprised NY still does the mailing of tags. CT you just print at home.

Are you kidding; NY still has backtags.

Love the back tags I have a long string of them ,including some of my Dads, as well as the paper licenses with all the stamps on them , I never signed across the stamps like they said to do either .

I believe Wisconsin is the only other state with back tags , and some families pass the tag number on through the generations.

I had a feeling I wasn't the only one that saves all of them!
