i heard in a MeatEater podcast that this was how other states have promoted use of nonlead ammo and it's worked pretty well.

Honestly, this might be the best NYS govt related decision I’ve seen in a long time. I have so much PTSD from the lack of Vaseline used when passing laws overnight or with a total disregard for citizen input that is outside the paradigm. At least they’re using a carrot instead of the stick.

I haven’t killed a deer with a lead bullet in years and most likely never will again.  But I’m so sick of  the government shoving crap down my throat that this is actually refreshing! It’s hard to believe there’s not some kind of unwanted anal fornication coming from them somewhere in this deal!

The WMU's in the study are my home turf.  As someone who is on and around the rivers all year,  I don't feel the population is stagnant. Every year there's more nests built along all the rivers I frequent. Probably double in the last 3 years alone, locally.

This is a solution looking for a problem. Don’t assist .gov in taking away ammunition choices. 
 

It’s for the children. It’s for the eagles. It’s another power grab to discourage hunting. Period.
