A day fishing with a friend on the Farmington River in CT.

Nice read! I heard of that river being great but haven't looked into what town(s) to try since it appears to span many. I fished the Pomperaug a few times though (in Woodbury). Caught a few 16" rainbows and browns, but definitely see others much bigger.

It's a good river. Tailwater that runs through a few towns, literally in people's backyards and a nice alternative to the Catskills in summer. Heading back in two weeks and will fish the nights only.

I don’t fly fish, but shoot me a PM. Maybe we can meet up

Sure, but I do think that most of the river is FF only. Going with NYC TU guys.

I very much like the Farmington. I look at it like the West Branch Delaware “light”. As in it’s a combo of wild and stocked fish. I wish it were closer for me so I could fish it more. Being that it’s largely a tailwater, you can fish it all summer when my local larger rivers are too warm for C&R fly fishing.

Can't argue with that.

Me too. So much fishable water. But the best part is the mousing.
