blackbeltbill Posted October 1, 2023 Author Posted October 1, 2023 10/1/23-- Down in Sterling Forest State Park with ABBEY to hopefully Flush a Pheasant up. Plenty of Scent. Extra Thick Foliage!ABBEY got on a Hot Scent and barreled into the Thick Stuff. Out Rockets a Hen Pheasant into the rising Sun at 7.45am. I snap off 3 shots from my 20 Gauge. I clipped her on the 3rd Shot and on She Flew. Just a slight hit. Remember-- The Sun was in my eyes. Good excuse anyway. ABBEY did well . 9 years old now and we hunted for just 1 Hour. I will extend the time with each Pheasant Hunt. Take The Multiple Use Area Challenge.
blackbeltbill Posted October 8, 2023 Author Posted October 8, 2023 10/8/23-My 3rd Morning out hunting for Pheasants + Timberdoodles. ABBEY - her 2nd time out. Over Hill and Dale we walked. Got some Hot Scents going near the Indian Heads and ABBEY Flushed up a Cackling Rooster Pheasant. Foliage was so thick that,I had a split second window to Fire- which,I did. Clean Miss. Having a Ball this year so far. Missed a Hen on October 1st. Killed 1 Hen this past Thursday. And today- ABBEY was working that Rooster really good before the explosion of Wings Skyward. blackbeltbill Posted November 2, 2023 Author Posted November 2, 2023 11/2/23-- Out once again with ABBEY. She flushed up a Hen Pheasant that I had a Split second to line up on before thick foliage hid the Hen. That is what happened. Hell of a good Time afield!
