What skill would you like to improve

What hunting skill/ ability  would you like to improve or just  plain learn or learn more about?

For me glassing..  i dont get it .  My woods are thick and  i hear  95%  of all game i see before i see it.  I use to take binoculars with me hunting  but  now i only seem to use then preseason to find mast  in tree tops. Or  looking a a buck in field to count points.

Hunting my shots are almost always  under 50 yards and  i know if  im going to shoot the game i see  or  not  by naked  eye.

Motivation!   Not much of a Deer Hunter here.

Plenty of years,I have gone out just once-- on the Rifle Opener.  Walk around for 3 hours and call it a Season.

Very similar to many who hunt Spring Turkeys once or Twice and either Luck out or call it a Season and go Fishing- LOL.

Take The Multiple Use Area Challenge.

All day sits come to mind.   I should do this more in prime time of the season. But part of my enjoyment of my time off is taking that break to have breakfast and warm up.

Also taking my time more on shots.  I'm kinda a gunslinger.  I always wait for the good shot opportunity and have passed a lot of shots others might take. But once I feel it's a good shot I tend to sling it quick.

My success comes from time in the woods. I’ve built my life around not working during season. I need to work on all the other aspects.

I’ll add that I hope my all around bow hunting skills improve, I’m still trying for my first mature big woods buck with the longbow.

I'd like to work on calling out those that bash other hunting methods as having no woodsmanship.

Success....

Im the same way with the hearing.  I use my ears like radar and I definitely  hear many more deer, before I see them.   I’ve been wanting to get more into glassing, and even tried it a few times, but it hasn’t took.  Maybe I’ll get some better binocs than my grandmas old Tascos.

Hunting from the ground. I’ve become almost exclusively dependent on my climber. I’d like to learn how to better ambush and still hunt from ground level.

Last few gun bucks have been from the ground , way easy and short sits . Idk why I’ve been so locked into the stands ,now I watch and go sit where they have been coming out .

As far as skills , not many are required to hunt  the farm other then time and  patience.

Just one?? I've got many but need to decide what I'm going to make time for. Many skills I have to keep using or you get rusty. I've got many that range from identifying tree species, plant species, trad bow shooting, to first aid and others. Jack of all trades but master of none. Lol

Holding steadier on shots that take awhile to develop would be my first.

That's the adrenaline,  when that stops pumping it's time to quit hunting and take up golf.   For the average hunter your heart rate is 80 (ish) beats per minute, when a game animal is spotted it jumps to 100, at the moment of the shot it usually spikes to 120!

Try counting backwards from 100 while you're waiting for the shot to develop, it'll distract your brain and your adrenaline and heart rate should calm down a bit.
