Wish today didn’t happen but it did.  As I got to work this evening I got a call from my wife. Her father was found in our local legion he runs.   They tried all they could but we had to put him on Comfort care tonight. He has no brain function because he was down for 40mins.  He’s on a bunch of meds and intubated.  We are hoping he stays with us until his son gets in from Georgia tomorrow morning.

this man has lived a life you could turn into a book.  Dropped out of school to save his family farm, was drafted and flew helicopters in Vietnam and was shot down 9 times and almost captured, ran a bar, played in front of 20k people with his band, he retired as a CO 10years ago, ran his own auto repair shop, foreman on a murder trial, ran the local legion and most important he was a father to 5 kids and 15 grand kids.

he will truly be missed by all and I’m going to miss his stories and secrets he would tell me.  It’s a huge loss to the community and especially our family.  I’m great full for him because he raised the woman Im spending my life with and there’s not enough thanks I can give him for that.

I told him before we left for the night that the family was in good hands and I’ll take over for him and told him he can go see his daughter, son and grandson who passed before him.  Hope he heard it.

Love and miss you John. I’ll try my best to live up to your expectations.

Sorry to hear.  Sounds like he was a great man that had a large life.  You all will remember him with some great memories and stories.  Best to you and your family at this difficult time.

Very sorry to hear SB . A man dedicated to keeping his family close and safe , and dedicated to his country earns my highest respect. Hope he makes it long enough for the family to be close by his side in the twilight moments. Im sure he heard you. Peace

My condolences to you and your family. He truly sounds like a great man. One of those guys you could just sit down and listen to him tell stories all day.

Well at 430 10 mins after taking the tube out my FIL passed away.  He was surrounded by all his kids, his wife and a couple of his grandkids.

we played his favorite country music while he passed away and his last song was a recording from my oldest daughter. As the last note was sang he took his last breath.  It’s going to be weird not having him around but he is now with his 2 children, grandchild and the rest of his family as he was the last of him siblings.

RIP. I'm glad your BIL was able to make it in time.  He knew all of you were there. Waiting for the last note of the song to take that final breath, was his way of saying goodbye.

Sorry for your loss.
