Civil War Reenactments + Songs

  Here in Orange County- we had the 124th New York infantry  Regiment/Orange Blossoms. A Volunteer Regiment From Orange County,NY.

  Formed in 1862 and active in the following major battles. -

 Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness,Cold Harbor, and Spotsylvania.

I visited three of my buddy’s ancestors gravesites from the 142 PA a few weeks ago, around the anniversary of their passing. (2) brothers (Enos and Adam) were killed on July 1, 1863.  Their great great uncle Sam took two reb mini-balls that day, but lingered a few more days in the Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary, which was used as a hospital.  I left (3) shiny new Lincoln pennies right there on his grave stone.

 

My favorite Civil War song is “While we were marching thru Georgia”

Civil War Weekend at Museum Village in Monroe starts on Friday September 1st and goes through to Sunday.

  This year,I am going on Saturday  when the Confederates Win. Sunday the Union Wins and,I have always gone on Sunday.
