Hunting partner is looking for a Deerslayer. Preferably a 20, but he'll take a 12.

He's watching a couple on GunBroker, but I figured I'd check here to see if anyone had any leads.

Thanks.

I have the Deerslayer 2 in 12g. With Leupold glass. Always kept in great condition. Have not used it since rifle became legal. Killed a pile of deer with that gun. Including my biggest buck. I probably will never use her again. But not sure I could ever part with her either.

Same deal Dave…..lots of proverbial notches in the stock; DS II with the fixed rifled barrel and Leupold 2x7 varix II.

It hasn’t been out of the house in close to 20 years.  Prior to the legalization of rifle I used the muzzleloader for bunch of years as my primary gun.   Sometimes I think about taking it for a spin but damn, I don’t miss shooting those slugs!!

Your buddy may have his mind set, but if not, it is worth considering the Savage 220 which is incredibly popular in shotgun-only NJ.

Incredibly popular in NY shotgun only zones too.

Deff on my want list.i love my Ole mossberg 500A pump and don't feel the recoil with adrenaline pumping but would love a lighter weight gun.

Good luck on ur buddies search for the slayer!!!

I have the Savage 220 and at 100 yd. I'm shooting one to one and a half inch groupings spot on with the Winchester deer season copper impact 1600 FPS. From what I hear, they also take very kindly to the Remington accutips, but I actually have Hornady SSTs that I'm going to sight in when I'm done with my Winchesters. It's a fantastic deer gun.

I still don't own a Savage 220, but if I ever get into some form of shotgun slug hunting again, I'll likely get one.  I toted around and used a heavy H&R 12 gauge single shot for many years and shot a bunch of deer with it.  Also a tack driver but heavy as hell, longest shot was a freehand ranged 170 yards on a doe who fell in her tracks!

Who can afford to shoot a slug gun enough to be proficient with it these days? Let alone find slugs. I do love an Ithaca shotgun, have a 20 with a modified barrel.

You're right, the price of sabot slugs has been insane for quite some time. Glad I bought my Hornady's before everything started to go haywire. Sitting on 12 boxes...have 4 Winchester's left And I don't plan on going to the range with them anytime soon. Prior to this New York ammo background crap I was buying on gunbroker.com, I guess it's the same anyway if I have them ship to the FFL because they'll have to run the background check anyway at my FFL, but they don't have horrendous prices and it seems to be the only place to get certain kinds of ammo because none of my LGS stock much of what I shoot for 20g and 308.
