Otto Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 https://www.syracuse.com/outdoors/2023/08/new-state-law-allows-onondaga-county-hunters-to-use-rifles-for-big-game.html I just bought a 20 gauge shotgun last year! Oh well, I’ll probably still stick to that or the muzzleloader. I’m not sure where this came from, I didn’t think it was such a big issue locally. Even more surprising were the Legislators that sponsored it - Stirpe, as far as I know, never voted in favor of any outdoor related issue. Mannion is pretty new, but now he is running for US Congress, so maybe he is building his cred? solon, Robhuntandfish and Belo 3

Loworange88 Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 I am in Onondaga! Just saw this had passed. Kind of exciting. We shall see how it goes. Robhuntandfish and Otto 2
Belo Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 this is good news. As someone who has hunted 7J (Tully) since I was a boy, it always baffled me that those sprawling valleys didn't allow for rifles. That said, and especially over the last 5 to 10 years, it was clear just about everyone was using a rifle anyhow as the booms were far and few in-between and the cracks were the majority of the sounds we'd hear. Loworange88 Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Tully is a nice area. Ive hunted Hieburg Forrest many times.
