FYI:

There is an error in the new Hunting Regs Guide for the fall turkey season dates.  

The Fall Turkey Season dates for the south zone are wrong in the prionted guide.  

Since October 14th is a Saturday, the season bumps to the following Saturday and runs from Saturday October 21st through Friday, November 3rd. (The printed regs incorrectly lists it as 10/15)

I have had the New Regs guide for 1 solid week now and was pleasantly surprised.  Moved back 4 or 5 days to October 15th.

   Kind of a Bummer to read it is really October 21st...

   I used to take 2 Fall Birds every year for a good 20 years until 2015 when the DEC/3 Way change went into effect.

1. Slashed the Fall Turkey Season from 6 weeks to 2 weeks in Zones 3 and 4.

2.Cut the Turkey Take from 2 Birds to 1 Bird.

3. Moved the opening date from October  1st to anywhere from October 19th or 21 this year.

   There is no DEC Field Data regarding an increase of Turkey Numbers in Zones 3 and 4 despite the passage of 9 years  to my knowledge. 

   I did write recently about the explosion of the Hen Turkey Population " in my area".  So there is data from 1 Man afield year round.

   No complaints- it is what it is.

Meanwhile,I still almost every year on October 1st while Pheasant Hunting run into Fall Turkey Hunters in Orange County.  Not everyone  reads the Regs guide .

 Just means,I will keep my Dusting Pit well stirred  up close to October 21st.

  Meanwhile,I walk ABBEY a good 1 mile every day. She is stoked for Pheasant  Season on October 1st.

    Looking at the map of NY and the " Light Blue" area on reflection- there is going to be just a Tiny Trickle of Fall Turkey Hunters who will know about the Regulation Guide Printing area. Just those who tune into this Thread here. Again-- just a Tiny Trickle of Hunters.

  Everyone else in the Light Blue area of NY will be out on October 15th and Reporting what they take on October  15th and shortly thereafter because they checked the Regulation Guide and read- October 15th-October 28th..

  I just spent time Googling any and all updates regarding this subject. And found nothing.

  I googled Hunting Seasons.org/ NY Hunting Seasons 2023/24- ( Updated Schedule)-- August 29th,2023-- Fall Turkey Hunt:

Oct 1st-14th

Oct 15th-28th

Nov 19th- Dec 2nd

   Is it possible  that the Website  has the wrong Date ? Honest Question.

     Again,I bumped this Thread because this is important. Only a Tiny Trickle will see it.

  All over Western NY ,up around the Catskills, Southern NY- All will be out on October 15th in the Light Blue area of the NY/ Fall Turkey map which is a absolutely Huge area and Calling in their Kills.

   I will probably  call Albany  later today about this and hopefully  reach a real person instead of countless prompts. 

  For most out on October  15th- they will probably  be Hunting other game primarily  and Luck into a Flock  or have a Flock appear below them .
