Aging by the teeth?

I got this buck in to mount the other day and was wondering if anyone wanted to take a crack at aging him using the traditional tooth eruption method?

Plenty of dentine but still sharp, 3.5 or older

His shed from '20 scores the exact same as his current left side. I believe he was at least 5.5 in '20, make him 7.5 this year. His tooth wear sure doesn't seem to match up with this. I am tempted to send his incisors in just out of curiosity but don't know if I will or not...

Congratulations on a great buck!!!

I'd say my wild guess of a two year old was slightly off target......

Never did get very good at aging a deer by it's teeth. Depending on that particular deers diet, tooth wear can vary greatly.

With that much history and shed, I would send it in for exact age.

Just looking at him i would say 5.5yr now if that was his shed in 2020.

He would have scored approximately 165 in 2020. I believe he was 5.5 back then...4.5 at the VERY youngest.
