DirtTime
We were back out in the area today so stopped in Frank's again. While that Remington 700 was still there, and I was tempted, I couldn't drop over a grand on a rifle. But, this did come home with me. Savage Axis in .270, walnut and blued steel. I've wanted a good old fashioned wood stocked rifle again for a long time, so while I'll be kicking myself for 6-7 months while I pay it off I'm happy to have some class back in the safe. mowin, Otto, Rusty and 12 others 15 _
Lawdwaz
Nice rifle Rob, I’m sure it’ll be a heck of a shooter. DirtTime

Jeremy K
My buddy has it with the synthetic stock in 30 06 ,it's a wonderful shooter and shoots the cheap ammo well, I'd have to imagine the wood stock will add even more accuracy.
DirtTime
Thanks, fellas. My .25-06 is an Axis Stainless with a synthetic stock, it shoots great and it is pretty light to carry around. This might be more of a safe queen overall. I figured I wanted the wood stock so I might as well get it done now before the laws to buy a new gun get changed here. Just don't trust the snake-in-the-grass leaders we have in NY at all now. Probably be a few weeks before I get her to the range and dialed in. _

lucky118
I can't bring myself to buy a new gun again. I would find a used one and get it for as cheap as possible and then take the stock off they come in and go to stockys and put a good stock on it. Buckmaster7600
I don’t own a savage gun that’s less than 70 years old so I don’t have any idea how they are but I have never saw a 270 that wouldn’t kill deer! Congrats on the purchase. Edited August 14, 2023 by Buckmaster7600 DirtTime

I used to run 150 but went 130 this time around. Hornady boxed stuff. Feel free to shoot me a PM, text, or even call. grampy 1 _

But I do have a bunch of 130 gr. SST's. I can easily make you up a box or so. We can barter! You have alot of fancy knives! Will be in touch. dbHunterNY
Savages are great guns and for me have been some of the least finicky and most accurate across the board. in the tacticool world of ARs and prs style rifles, a nice blued steel and walnut stocked bolt gun is something everybody should own. JohnPlav
You’ll be very happy with your new gun. Iv killed more deer with this 20+ year old Savage .270 than all my other guns combined. grampy and DirtTime
