Hope everyone is doing great. Stopping in to say that there has been a new development toward xbow inclusion.

In partnership with the xbow collation and the NYSCC, the DEC is using the ADA at federal level as a workaround to the legislation. There is a new permit called the Unmodified Xbow Permit. Anyone who meets ADA  reasonable accommodations requirements (read this as the minimum of no longer being disabled to the point of a breath tube) can apply for the permit using the form and get approved to use an unmodified xbow in all of archery season. I’m familiar with the ADA and it’s minimum requirement is pretty basic.

Im sharing this as some here I know would appreciate it. The form is out there but it is not yet posted or publicly released through official channels yet but it is floating out as a few people within the xbow coalition have already submitted AND received approval from the DEC. Leah Atkins is the ADA Accommodations specialist at the DEC who is helping people out right now. I’m sure she is getting inundated.

Good luck this fall.

What would be the minimum requirements needed to qualify? Arthritis? Age? Diabetic or other disease? Recent injury? Old injury? Just curious. I will do some research too!

Thanks for posting this phade.

Thanks for posting this phade.

I found this: https://www.mtas.tennessee.edu/reference/examples-impairments-covered-under-ada

It lists hypertension and diabetes as qualifying, which would cover a lot of people.
