I see a lot of  people on other site asking for a 1 buck rule  or antler restrictions..

Bow hunter fought for along time for a second buck tag . I dont see a reason to limit to one  buck i see a lotnof people point at  mid western states as see they have big deer and 1 buck rule..they seem  to ignore gun season is 10 days or less.

Ny has  600k hunters approximately  and take 150 k  buck a year so lesst than 1/5 of hunters are successful  with a  buck or does everyone  think hunter take 2  so only 75k hunters are successful  hunting  buck....  guess most dont  hunt alot  or just  dont have the time  others  put  in.

Personally  i like the chance for 2 and usually try and take a decent  buck 1st and then hunt for #1  on list  if  its still avaiĺabke  i have taken 2 aon manyvocasions  in last 20 years  but do  take 4 weeks  od  bow  off and 2 weeks  of gun...

Thoughts why they think  1 buck will solve the  hunting  lopsided take....

The Pareto principle: 80% of the deer will be taken by 20% of the hunters. My guess is most people think 75k hunters are taking two bucks apiece, and that then limiting them to one buck will cut the take in half.

For the record, I don’t think that’s accurate. I imagine there are a lot of guys who hunt opening weekend, shoot the first antlered deer that walks by, and that’s their season. They’re happy with that, and I’m happy for them.

I don’t think I’d like a one buck rule. It would suck to get lucky opening weekend of bow and then have the whole season be over. But, I’m not a biologist. What do I know?

I'm in Vermont.  We're a 1 buck state now.  QDM folks and state biologists claim hunters want to kill older bucks and 1 buck is the way.

According to 2019 data, about 450 hunters killed 2 bucks. Big whoop.

I hate it.  I don't necessarily need to kill 2 bucks.  I do want to kill a buck and KEEP HUNTING for a buck.  Lots of guys hunt other states, but I don't think I should have to.

Vermont is never going to be a big buck state, but that's what some vocal hunters want.  It is also supposed to force hunters to take more does, which is probably a good thing.

Only another 8 years left in this current management plan...

get use to it ,when the crossbow hunters get full intrusion  NY will become a one buck state.

Doubt it  most crossbow hunter are archers that do both or cant do a regular bow due to injury  or age.. bow hunter fough along time for a 2nd tag.

PA is a 1 buck state and antler restrictions and they have more hunters than NY. I pretty much only hunt there anymore. The bucks are bigger and more of them. I think PA hunters must suck at hunting cause I pick up a ton of sheds there every yr of legal deer lol. NY I don't  bother shed hunting anymore. The bucks are all dead lol

This has been the opposite of my experience. Not saying it's broadly true or not, but the guys I know who hunt xbow are rifle hunters who want to extend the season by two weeks with minimal effort. They wouldn't be out there with a vertical bow.

I'm the opposite. I don't know any crossbow users who didn't hunt with a vertical bow first.

Same here, but you always got to watch out for the compound  bow only hunters who oppose the crossbow.  That does not fit “their” agenda.

I’d love to see (3) bucks in NY, for those who purchase gun, archery, and ML licenses.

Why three bucks? can't you get enough meat with all the doe tags? I think maybe it should be an earn a buck rule by shooting does first int the wmu's that are so out of whack as far as buck to doe goes...

it was before my time but I believe before we went to a 2 buck state there was party permits that could be used on a buck so the guy who shot more than one buck was still doing it.

2 bucks or one buck doesn’t matter, the problem is the guys that fill theirs their wife’s, neighbors and kids buck tags as well. Those generally aren’t the guys that are waiting for a mature buck either.

My first  3 deer were with a recurve. Rest with a compound. Had a crossbow  for 4 yrs now. Still haven't  killed anything with it lol

When I lived in Alabama it was 1 buck a day for 4 months. I believe they have changed that now.
