mowin Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Power was out for just about 48hrs. 14k gen ran the whole house. We did laundry, took showers, and the AC was keeping the house cool. Didn't have to worry about both freezers either. This was the first outage since we had it installed just over a yr ago, and I'm glad we had it. Big Paul, nywaw, Doebuck1234 and 2 others 4 1

nywaw Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 First thing I did when I bought my place was install a full house generator. At the end of 1/2 mile private dirt my neighbors and I live on. I'm last man on the last totem pole to get power back when it goes down. Been great having it, nearly instant transfer switch, don't even notice power is out. grampy 1

The only way I knew the power came back on is I heard the gen shut down. grampy and nywaw 2
grampy Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 We had the Generac when we lived up on 'the hill'. It was invaluable living up there in the sticks. Since we moved closer to the power grid two years ago, we haven't needed one. I do have a portable should we need it for short term. Glad ya made out OK mowin. mowin 1
BowmanMike Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 I will get a portable one and have the electrician put in another panel so i can feed that one back into the house from the back porch. All I need the power for is to keep my freezer cold and pressurize my water tank, those are the main items. I am not willing to spend 5k or more for a power back up.
Buckmaster7600 Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Best part of living off gird, my power is always out! Should my solar system ever fail I have an inverter mounted in a closet that I store all my boat batteries in for the winter. grampy 1
