Yup!   Well at least those that make it.   A couple of them were already road pancakes.   I moved a bunch of them off the road but more and more kept climbing up out of the hole.

Incubation is roughly 3 months and many of them hatch between August and October.  We have a nest in our garden that mom laid in mid June, so we should see them hatching any day now.

I find them in June and july How do they hatch in Aug and October.  Maybe differs in different parts of the state?

The young can overwinter in the nest if the eggs are laid later in the year.  They then emerge in the spring.

That's crazy. I never would have thought they hatch that late. Cool stuff.

Here’s the magic hole that kept spitting out more and more turtles.   I finally had to leave and they were still coming.

I’ve seen Diamond Back Terrapins lay eggs two years in a row in my backyard, but I’ve never seen them emerge. Very cool. 👍
