I was able to get out to run rabbit. I took only two out this morning, no gun because of the rain. They had a couple good runs. We all came home wet and muddy. I should really get a car just for them, or get one that no dogs are allowed in

Rusty loves pictures. Words are more or less wasted on him. Never so with pictures.  They can even be completely random, having nothing whatsoever to do with the thread.

I think someone invited another member over, wolc. He loves posting pictures, mainly of himself. Rusty is going to love him!

Thanks for the rabbit post. I’ve hunted rabbits since I was 10, but only as an opportunity during grouse, woodcock, pheasant, or quail hunts. I was only on one beagle hunt for rabbits and it was an amazing experience. Very different than the pointing dog work I am so used to!  I love good dog work regardless of species. The beagles my friend runs are world class.

I would love to see rabbits in my woods, but they all live down by the farms on the main road. Safer I guess. Better eating too.

Weirdly, I get cats even though I'm in the deep woods and 1.5 miles from the nearest residence.

I miss running beagles something terrible. When I was a kid, that is what my dad and I did every weekend. We'd get up early and head to a UKC hunt. I started out tagging along with dad, then the old men would pay me a Coke to "handle" their dog, which meant that I got to run into the briar patches and leash their dogs. Eventually I bought my own dogs, and even "championed" a couple out. Dad was usually the Master of Hounds, so I got to mix with all of the other hunters while Dad stayed back at the clubhouse.

I'm fully convinced that if you played me an audio recording of my old beagles, I'd still be able to recognize most of them by their mouth only. If you're every looking for someone to tag along, hit me up.
