GroanALot Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 So I tagged my first tree on black friday as is our tradition…nice tree; full of spiders (infested with thousands) but nice: a couple days later to the local hardware store for a pre cut: dmandoes, ZAG, Bionic and 1 other 4 Quote
mowin Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 Oh hell no. No real fear of spiders, but I'd burn that tree. Switched two yrs ago to a artificial tree. I've always said " as long as I'm breathing, there will be a real tree in this house".... Well... Started with this on Dec 10th.... Ended up with this on Dec 30th.. water every other day, and two yrs later I'm still finding friggin needles... Never again.... Don_C, GreeneHunter, Doebuck1234 and 4 others 1 1 5 Quote

NYRturkeycall Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 My wife grew up with 2 each year so now it's our tradition. The den is the family fun ornament tree (kids love it...we play the find the ornament game with the older one) and the LR is her outdoor/deer symmetrical dept store crazy thing that she likes. Both artificial, gets too warm with the fireplace and radiators and I don't lie dealing with the needles falling. We'll light pine candles or put fresh trunk cuts around for the smell. Buckmaster7600 Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 (edited) When my daughter was maybe 5 or 6 we were walking to a hunting spot on our property and she pointed to a tree and said “dad that can be our Christmas tree.” It was about as Charlie Brown as a tree can get but we went out and cut it and decorated it. She just turned 15 and every year since we’ve found a tree on the property, they aren’t going to win any awards but I hope she still enjoys the process as much as I do! Bionic Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 Each year we pick a tree from our property, we dont care how thick or thin it is. We have such a good time together, it has become a tradition to sip Jack Fire and decorate our tree. 9jNYstarkOH, NYRturkeycall, GroanALot and 13 others 16 Quote

crappyice Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 (edited) With my daughter at college we are doing this in stages this year...cut it down Thanksgiving weekend (Abel's farm) when she was home and left it outside wrapped until today where I figure I would "let it fall" outside for a few days. I'll get it in the house this we and get the lights on there so when she comes home we can finish the decorating. Edited December 4, 2022 by crappyice Lomax, ZAG, Don_C and 3 others 6 Quote
GencountyZeek Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 Concolor fir this year for us. In about 6-8 years we can cut our own down behind the house. Starting a U cut your own tree farm here at Zeek acres . Planted 900 this year, have 700 more coming in the spring. When we have about 5 acres of trees that will be enough.
