Busting chops, but the shot was most definitely taken from a tree saddle...

Interestingly, there was a a nice 2.5 yr old 8pt found dead with an arrow in it 6O yds from my stand here this past week. I'll have to go further investigate after season. Don't want to stink the area any more now as my target buck has been very daylight active here over the past couple weeks...

This post brought back bad memories of one I hit, in just about the same spot, and lost in 2016. Had to do some digging to find the pic. I was on the ground, he was at 20 yards, but I consciously used the 30 yard crosshair on the crossbow scope thinking he was a bit further than he was! Hit him with a NAP Spitfire Maxx. Ironically, he walked right past a cam 150 yards after the shot and I got this pic. I'm sure I at least clipped a lung, as there was some lung blood. I waited for 2hrs, then trailed for 200 yards, but decided to give him more time and went back the next day. He bled well for ~300 yards, then nothing after he got up from a bed! We searched for a day and a half, but never found him! I was beyond sick, especially because he was my #1 target that year and that evening (2 days before gun season) things FINALLY came together! BUT, he was back the next year and seemed 100%!! Hopefully @WNY Bowhunter the one you have pics of will be too!

The pic on the left was him in 2016, the year I shot him (His drivers side was screwed up, so we called him "Goofy"). The pic on the right is from 2017. As soon as I saw his right side, I recognized him as the buck that I hit! New and improved too!!

I hope to see him in '23. Just got another buck on cam at the same property that appeared to have had a close call too...

You may have a nearby archer that doesn’t understand where his arrow or bolt is going on steep, downward shots. Seems like both shots went over the spine and grazed the far side. They do not appear to be broadside shots closer to ground level. Think of shots taken nearly straight down and the need to hold your 20 yard pin lower than if you’re on the ground shooting at a target.
