Apparently engorged ticks are tough to ID. Any ideas what species this is?

No clue, but IMO, they are all bad.

All species can carry a variety of diseases. It is no longer considered important to ID species. As @mowinsaid, all are bad.

Does NY have free testing? CT does. They tell you what kind of tick and what diseases (if any)

Unfortunately it's somewhere in the sewer system. Not feeling any effects and the bite area isn't showing anything yet.

Play it safe, have your doctor give you antibiotics..
