Splitear Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Curious what everyone is using for propellant in their front stuffers. I solely use sidelocks, so BH209 and pellets aren't really my thing. I've got a good supply of Pyrodex RS, as I usually buy a pound for myself when I go shopping for our youth program. However, last time I was out, I bought a pound of Triple 7, and I really liked it. It shot well, and cleaned very easily. I purchased the 3f equivalent, as it should cover all of my guns well, except for my flint, though I've heard T7 works well in some flintlocks. In my flintlock, I'm using 3f Schuetzen for my main charge, and 4f for my priming charge.
Chromeslayer Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Gave up on BH209 and switched to a smokeless built muzzleloader.. still sitting on 5lbs of BH209 just incase i visit a state thats not smokeless powder friendly Splitear 1
NYRturkeycall Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Acme rocket fuel.... If Wiley Coyote hasn't gotten killed yet, neither will I. Lol... I don't muzzleload but I do bust chops. GreeneHunter 1 Palma non sine pulvere

Mostly due to my ignorance at that point in my hunting escapades. Never have I pulled the trigger so much on a gun and have it not go off. Or the dreaded pop fizzzzz, while you are trying to hold it on the deer when it goes off. I'm laughing ,just thinking about, so maybe I miss it sort of.. I am thinking a flintlock would be fun.
nywaw Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 I switched to BH 209 years ago. So much cleaner and easier to shoot in my guns than BP. Buckmaster7600 and sbuff 2
sbuff Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 It is but in a sidelock you can't use bh209 . For that matter I wouldn't use bh209 in any open face ignition or slam fire ignition nywaw 1

Lawdwaz Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 SR4759 in my NULA 209 smokeless Goex 3F black powder in my T/C Hawken flintlock.
ATbuckhunter Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 BH209 for me. I like it because I don't have to rush to clean my muzzleloader at the end of the day. Don't let it sit dirty too long though! I made the mistake of that and regretted it when I saw rust in my barrel. It wasn't too bad, but I learned my lesson.
Rob-c Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 Since getting back into MZ a few yrs ago I went with 777ffg because that’s pretty much all that was available at the time . I used to use pyrodex pellets back in the day. I have zero complaints with the triple 7 . Splitear 1
