Same Here. I had at least 1 Black Bear follow me around this past Late April while Turkey Hunting in New Jersey.  I kept my eye on him. Once,I started up a Steep Rocky Trail he went no further.

They are naturally curious. Next time that happens, turn and face the bear and talk to it and it will bolt in the opposite direction.

  This Quote,I have Time for.  

  I definitely  faced the Bear and did some Firm Talking. I hike year round alone so ,I expect to see Bears. I usually  carry 2 Good Knifes always.

  I could have Shot The Black Bear.  Another 5 Foot and,I would have. He kept his distance.    Believe I had Nickel Plated 4s- 2 ozs.
